First Steps In The Academic World: Matriculation Of New Students Of Physics Study Program

On August 12-16, 2024, the Physics Study Program, FMIPA, Tanjungpura University, held a Matriculation activity for new students. This program is designed with exciting sessions to prepare new students academically and non-academically. Here are the series of activities each day:

Day One: New students are introduced to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) environment. They understand the faculty's history, vision, mission, and various programs and facilities that support academic and research developments.

Day Two: Students get to know the Physics Study Program better, from the curriculum structure and laboratories to the available facilities. On this day, students also get complete information about scholarships, student mobility programs, and achievement opportunities in PKM 8 fields, ON MIPA, and Outstanding Students (Mawapres).

Day Three: On the third day, students learn good communication ethics in daily interactions and the academic environment. In addition, an explanation was given about the Physics study program curriculum and the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which provides various learning opportunities across campuses and fields.

Day Four: Today, students are introduced to lecturers in the Physics Study Program and their areas of expertise, who provide insight into the outstanding research in this study program. There is also an "Alumni Talk" session that inspires students to plan their academic and career futures and a time management session to support learning success.

Day Five: On the last day, students take a post-test to evaluate the material given during enrollment. The activity ends with a Tour of Campus, providing a direct experience of getting to know the facilities that can support their academic activities during college.

With this matriculation activity, it is hoped that new students will understand the various opportunities available and be ready to become an active part of the innovative physics community.
